Teaching
Di is very happy to travel to textile groups, guild meetings, and private workshops to teach a range of techniques and classes.
Below is a selection of some of the courses she teaches: -
- Contemporary townscapes: A patchwork base combined with mixed media. Every student's work will be different, and individual.
- Dyeing*. A simple method of dyeing a range of fabrics which will all work well in a piece of work. This takes all the mystery out of dyeing!
- Working with sheer fabrics: Experiment, layer, use mixed media, hand and machine stitch.
- "Slice it up" Log cabin: A variation on a Nancy Crow Technique. Easy, great fun, good results
- Design and stitch your own A4 sample based on a simple geometric shape: This class starts with a discussion about the basic elements and principles of design. Suitable for the student who has the basics of machine stitching, but would really like to develop her own design skills. Lots of ideas and support given.
- "Jazz it up" Layered free rotary cutting and piecing: Learn how to sew curved seams without pinning! Great fun, and individual results!
- A two-day workshop on ideas and basics taught for individual creative handmade books: Make at least four different styles of book over the two days.
- A two-day workshop: One day on designing tessellations. The second day on preparing a quilt surface with your design (miniature or bigger scale.)
- A two-day mixed media workshop: Working with paper and stitch. An experimental day, gathering ideas, preparing a variety of samples, starting to design and work on individual pieces.
